ABOUT US

UM ecoMotion is the University of Manitoba's Shell Eco-marathon team whom is dedicated to designing, building, and competing an ultra-efficient vehicle. The team consists of university students who carry out the challenging work to succeed at competition.

We have travelled and competed in Detroit, Michigan and Sonoma, California. The WASKOTEPEYIW and our 2017-2018 vehicle were taken to Michigan and California, respectively as our two prototype battery-electric vehicles. In April 2019, we were back in California with our originally designed Urban Concept battery-electric vehicle. In Winter 2020, we improved the design of our Urban Concept vehicle only to be stopped abruptly by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this challenge, we will continue to work on and finish our Urban Concept vehicle remotely. We hope to participate in remote design competitions for 2020-21, as well as start designing a Prototype vehicle for the 2021-22 competition.

The team's unique mission is to challenge the way we think of human mobility through the implementation of new technologies that strive to push the boundaries in vehicle efficiency. The team is passionate about minimizing the areas of energy loss in efforts to use the least amount of energy as possible. Ultimately, the team uses the best of talent to build a low-carbon future in hopes of minimizing the human impact made on Earth.

This is the story of how ecoMotion started and the lessons learned along the way. ecoMotion strives to set the bar with effective managerial practices, dynamic problem solving, and facilitating leadership growth.
